Hi babes!! I wanted to share with you a company that is near and dear to me: Perfectly Posh. Now- don't get this confused with Poshmark. Both are referred to as "Posh" but they are two completely separate companies. Confusing, I know. There are SOOO many different skin and health products out there and it's hard to find the right one that works for your specific unique skin types. As women, we are on the constant hunt for a great product that will illuminate our skin and give us the confidence we crave. Well, say hello to Perfectly Posh.
I was first introduced to Perfectly Posh when a close friend, Tasha Anderson, became an independent consultant for them back in December 2016. My combination skin is a hot mess and it can be difficult to find products that my skin agrees with, so I was a bit skeptical to give Posh products a try. Tasha handed me a few samples from lotions, to bath bombs, and facial creams and I was HOOKED!
Guys- Meet Tasha Anderson. She is a 25 year old boss babe who is killing the game as an Independent Consultant for Perfectly Posh. Naturally, I was curious and wanted to know more from Tasha about her journey with Perfectly Posh, so I asked away and she was cool enough to let me drool over her success!
What made you first interested to start your own business?
Tasha: I was first interested in starting a pampering business with Posh when I was faced with the reality that I had to go back to work and leave my 8 week old miracle baby with a babysitter or in the care of a daycare. After everything we had been through to have her (from fertility issues to a high-risk pregnancy), the thought of leaving her with a babysitter (even someone I knew) absolutely killed me. I was approached by a friend who shared the opportunity with me, and it happened at the perfect time. I had a week to figure something out for my daughter before I had to return to the chaos of working in a pharmacy. I jumped in with both feet and my eyes closed. I had really no idea what to expect, but I knew it was something I had to make work so I could stay at home with my daughter, Paizlee. This opportunity just fell into my lap, and I dove right in - I really didn't even give myself a chance to think about it.
Tell us about Perfectly Posh. What is it? What is your favorite product?
Tasha: Perfectly Posh is a company whose main focus is YOU. We have naturally based pampering products (think bath bombs, lotions, skin/hair care, etc) that are all made in the USA, with the best ingredients on Earth - with you in mind. There is a huge focus on giving back to not only our community locally, but our entire country and the communities around the world. Simply speaking, Perfectly Posh wants to give you some time for yourself, because we all deserve to be intentionally shallow and a little selfish at times.
Our products are naturally based, made with the best ingredients, and are cruelty free (hey there Vegan lovers!). Everything is free of petroleum ingredients including parabens and paraffins. We never use SLS/SLES, petroleum-derived lathering agents - instead we lather with palm and coconut-oils, which we responsibly source! Our scents come from essential oils and natural scents, versus perfumes, and we hate using fillers!
Recently, my skin has been struggling something fierce -- so I've loved using our "Whole Lava Love" (Volcanic ash & charcoal powder exfoliator) every other day, and our charcoal detoxing chunk called "Gender Bender" on the opposite days. It's cleared up my face so much, it no longer looks like the Rocky Mountains! My other absolute favorite and must-have product is our "Healer Skin Stick." I use this thing on everything - my lips (I hate chapstick, don't judge!), scars, cuts, scrapes, rashes, cuticles, etc. It's so versatile and so easy to carry with me everywhere I go! Honestly, I could talk about my favorite products all day, because the truth is there are only a few products that I don't like -- sorry, "Hot Mess", you are not my favorite hand cream!
Why did you choose to be an independent representative for Posh? What makes this company unique from others out there?
Tasha: I was drawn to be an independent consultant with Perfectly Posh because the company, and the people, truly care about the world around us. We're not trying to clean your house, make you lose weight, do a make over, etc. -- we are literally focused on giving ourselves a break.
As women, we don't take enough time for ourselves. We focus so much on taking care of everyone around us - parents, friends, spouses, kids... that somewhere along the lines, we forget that we need to fill our own cup before we can pour others. With Posh, I found myself again. I found a person that I lost years prior to joining, I found a passion and a love for something other than catering to everyone else all the time.
Perfectly Posh has a huge focus on giving back - we have done many different products through the You Deserve It Foundation, including Change for Guatemala (where we raised OVER $40,000 to help supply formula and supplements to infants and toddlers in Quatepeque), the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (donating chunks - which are our bar soaps, and money to help our military members), Hurricane Irma relief (donating chunks to locals who were affected by Irma, and almost $55,000 to help with relief costs), and even donating (and building) bikes to 23 children in a local orphanage while on our incentive trip in the Dominican Republic! We know how to have fun and party with Perfectly Posh, we know how to relax and be selfish, but we also know how to give back when it's needed!
Were there any unexpected challenges you encountered?
Tasha: Since joining Perfectly Posh, things have been different than I would have imagined. I never imagined hitting over $20,000 in sales - especially when all of the products are under $25 and before my one year 'Poshiversary'.
I've made friends all over the United States and these women are my tribe. They are supportive and have a lot of the same values and goals that I have. I have a team of 22 people, and I never thought that I would be able to lead that many individuals. I've never seen myself as a "leader," more than anything I've just seen myself as a friend - but as a team, we have hit over $75,000 in sales since I started in December 2016.
One of the biggest challenges that I've found myself faced with is finding a work/life balance, which seems near impossible when my work is 100% from my phone and completely on the schedules of the people I'm working with (clients and team members alike). It's something I'm still struggling with, but slowly getting better at. Sometimes people don't understand my work, they just see it as "texting people," "scrolling through Facebook," "playing on my phone," but the reality is that I'm connecting with people, I'm building relationships so I can truly understand what people need and want. I can assume that you want bath bombs and face masks with lavender everything, when in reality, you are allergic to lavender, only take showers and your idea of a face mask is what they use to rob a bank (haha!). By taking the time to talk with you, connect with you, and build a relationship with you - I am able to truly pamper you. I'm able to find what will help you relax, and what will give you that intentionally shallow moment we all deserve.
I love seeing your journey as not only a successful business woman, but also a full time mom!! I don't know how you do it, girl. Has starting a family influenced your business with Posh?
Tasha: Honestly, I don't know how I do it some days either.
There are days that I feel like I'm juggling a million things, and dropping the ball on all of them. I didn't start the business until after I had started the family, however through the business I've seen quite a few changes in my family. I noticed that when I initially started the business and I was still learning the ropes and trying to figure out what worked best for me. I was staying up late and getting just about an hour of sleep every night. Obviously, that didn't last long, especially with a newborn. I started to take time out of my day (an hour or so) to get work done, and really focus. I knew that I was working this business for them. I knew I needed that extra money coming in so that I could make a car payment, or pay for us to go out on a dinner date.
It's definitely a puzzle trying to figure out how to fit all the pieces of my life together to make things work, and it's something I'm still trying to figure out.
It's clear that you have a strong love for this amazing company. What do you love the most about it all?
Tasha: There are so many things I love about working as an independent consultant for Perfectly Posh.
Number 1, our corporate office is extremely supportive of each of us and they are always acknowledging our hard work! We receive various forms of recognition quite frequently - sometimes it's just a card showing our achievement, other times it is a pin or key chain, and even free products!
Number 2, I love that we are never competing with each other. As consultants, we don't "fight" or try to make someone else look bad - we truly love cheering each other on and helping each other succeed, which is so rare in social selling situations. Last one I'll mention, the products - I know that I am sharing an amazing product, that is totally affordable, so I don't ever feel like I'm "selling," I'm just sharing my love of one product with another person that may love the product, too! I'm totally a penny-pincher and one of the best things about the pricing with Posh is that we have an on-going promo for buy 5 products get the 6th free! It's one I take advantage of as often as possible!!
Finally- What advice do you have for the people who are looking to become an independent representative as well?
Tasha: The biggest piece of advice that I can give to anyone looking into becoming an independent consultant/representative is to find something you are passionate about. Find a product you love, and company that loves you back. I was a representative for a couple other companies years ago, and I liked the products but I never felt appreciated by the company because I wasn't a top leader of the company and I never found a passion with those companies. Everyone talks about the compensation plans, and the requirements of the businesses, but none of that matters if you can't make a sale because you don't love the product. Your love for a product projects to other people, as does your passion - that's when you shine the most.
