Wholeheartedly Happy: Why I Blog

Oh, hi there! I'm Whitney Wilkerson.

I'm an Arizona native, photographer in works, podcast lover, and blogger extraordinaire. Currently obsessing over avocado toast, hot yoga, Chick-fil-A dinner dates, and if you follow me on Instagram you know I have a deep obsession for puppies (duh! who doesn't love puppies?).

Stick around, stay a while, and read on for the rest!

At such a young age we are forced to decide what we want to do for the rest our our lives and where we want to go to become educated and succeed. I truly had no clue. I was battling following a bandwagon path or chasing after what I loved. I have always had an eye for photography and I enjoyed being the eye behind these beautiful masterpieces I was creating. I found happiness and solitude in this form of art. From black and white photography to digital, this was my jam! Each piece I created was plastered onto the wall for all to see. I began to journal and write about these pieces of art and what they meant to me and why I shot this piece. This was my niche and where I first began to truly write.

I secretly love when I get asked why I started this blog because I get the opportunity to geek out about my life. Growing up, I was involved in many after school music and arts activities like photography, band, and the marching band color guard (yup, I was a nerd). I loved all forms of art and explored many different realms of it, but writing is what made me feel the most at home. So I stuck with it!

I'm thrilled you've come across my blog - because you and me, we're a lot alike. We're both trying to make a life out of what we do and enjoy, and be wholeheartedly happy. I secretly know nothing about blogging. I wake up each morning and drool over the lifestyle some of these Instagram influencers and bloggers have. I envy that. I envy that they are out there pursuing their dreams, whether that is writing, vlogging, photography (personal, wedding, architectural), etc. I lacked that courage that they all have... until now. I'm ready to place my cards down and say I'm ALL IN. I'm ready to make mistakes, and I know there will be many ups and downs, and both positive and negative feedback, but I also believe we all have the ability to chase our dreams if we only take the time to pursue them.

Whether you're a family member, friend, long time acquaintance, or we have never even met, you are worthy and I appreciate your love, support and guidance as I pursue this journey. I hope this blog inspires you to explore new places, seek understanding, love the life you live, and truly be the best version of yourself one day at a time.
